Package (682) or (86M)

One more decision prior to ordering 2003 f250 SD v10 4.30LS w/Camper PKG. I would like the truck to be level, and provide a decent ride. Is the MAX. FRONT GAWR PKG (682) an upgrade to the standard PKG and will that option level the truck? Is the SNOW PLOW PACKAGE (86M) an upgrade from the (682 PKG)? Is the (86M PKG too much spring)? I might add on a winch in the near future, but for now only want to level the truck. Any help or opinions are appreciated, Thanks

The snowplow package contains the 'X' springs, which are the 'biggest' springs you can get. From what I've heard the Max front end package doesn't do alot. I'd get the snowplow package. It also includes the steering damper.

Check with your dealer to see what, if any, packages are available together. At one time, you couldn't get more than one (camper, snow plow, etc) package on a truck. Hopefully, that has changed for '03.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 16-Sep-02 AT 08:05 PM (EST)]The camper package 'uprates' the spring by 200 pounds, while the snow plow package takes them to the maximum rating. If you start with a "heavy" truck due to engine/tranny/cab style, the camper package might max it out anyway. Neither will level your truck. I have the camper package on mine and it added maybe an inch, so still a very slight rake (see my galley for a side picture). The snow plow package also give you a steering damper (which the 'off-road' package also does), while the camper package gives you a rear swap-bar, in addition to the heavier springs. If you are going to add a winch (9000lb or larger), go for the max springs, it will surely help. Most aftermarkets offer a 2'-2.5" 'leveling kit', in the $200-$400 range.

And order the 'sport package' for me....I sure wish they offered that last year.

Daggum! That's one heavy-assed winch!!

My vote is to MAX everything out! What the heck, they're just kidneys and you got TWO!!

I am going to order the camper, and snow plow pkg which is available for this model and year. Even if the computer will not select the x springs, I'll still get the $70 steering damper? Also I plan on changing tire size of 265/75/16 stock wheels 16x7 to 285/75/16 or 255/85/16. Hopefully I will still be able to fit the truck under the garage height of 83 inches? Thanks for the input, and anymore is appreciated.
