I have a 2000 EB Expy that I got used a couple of years ago & I would like to know if the keyless entry remotes were a standard accessory or was it an upgrade. If it was standard can I just buy a couple off of ebay & program them? It has an aftermarket alarm but the remote is failing & I neeed to replace it.
I think it was standard on EBs. Do you have the keypad on the door? I didn't know the code for mine so I went to the dealer service department and he looked under the dash at the security computer and the code is printed on it. On my 1999 its on the drivers side. I'd bet a dealer can get you a new remote.
The Dealer should be able to tell you if a remote is compatible, but they will charge much more than eBay. Apparently many people go to aftermarket units and there is a glut of remotes on eBay.
You should know that there are three different power door lock circuit types on these vehicles, and while unlikely for an EB, it is possible that yours is not compatible. Additionally, you don't know what they may have done when installing your aftermarket alarm.
