Originally posted by otto I agree its better than the 97-03 tho I cant say I have any real disdain for any year Ford trucks tho, I didnt really like the first gen rangers.
What I'm trying to figure out is what truck from the 70's did gm model the ssr after ? I thought it was designed to look like the 5 window from the early fifties....i mean round headlights, horizontal bars ?
Dang chevy freaks dont even know their own camp
SSR (BTW I like it) is based on the 1947-1953 chevy half ton pickups. I love that Chevy is getting into the old style, but would take an old one over it any day!
I like the new fords, (Been in one? sooooooo nice! and they have awesome roll down rear windows in the back of extended cabs! cool!) but the box is wierd, i like it being tall, but the 'stepside is too funky lookin!
Originally posted by bassdude i say 96 was the last good looking ford p/u. not that it matters, i can't afford a new one anyway.
So true...but I do like the new F150. Glad they went "back to the box" somewhat, never liked that melted nose on the 97-ups.
Still, if I had the $$$ for a new F150, I'd probably buy 2 96 or older models instead. Or just one and accessorize the heck out of it.
When I see a Focus, I think ugly. I am sick and tired of the turtle looking like cars. What ever happened to straight lines and cars you could get in and out of like trucks? I will never buy a new car. Ford, are you listening?
then new f150 (and most new trucks) are just to wimpy looking to me, and the 4x4 models are to low to the ground. i hate that! you have to lift new truck like 6" just for them to fit ok tires and look like a truck! most of my friend swear i have a lift kit on my truck because they can't belive that truck sit this high stock. quite sad really.
Well I just heard the price on the GT so, I think I would buy on e of those before I ever think about owning an ugly (inside) 04. I test drove one, it was bumpy as all get out, and just not a pleasure to drive, so much for the soccer mom truck with its 15 lb tailgate.
I don't think I am ever going to get rid of this 79. although the window seals need to be replaced. its a hell of a lot cheaper than a new truck payment.
The SSR is okay if you want a fancied up ElCamino - but to compare it to a truck??? I don't see any comparison there. I work for GM and I think the SSR is one of the worst looking cars on the road today, as is most of thier cars, and the GM trucks are just Butt ugly!!
I do favor the 70's & 92-96 style F150's. It's all in what you want. But as far as ugly, AVALANCHE is one of the top 5 ugliest things ever produced in America.
