I'll be getting a 1985 F-250 from a friend in about two weeks, and (of course) am already making many plans for it. It's not in the best of shape and has some rust (nothing major), so I have quite a job ahead of me.
Anyway, this particular post (probably many more to come) has to do with the seat. The first thing I noticed when I got in is how HUGE the cab is compared to the Ranger I am used to. So I got to thinking it sure would be nice to have a couple bucket seats and a nice console in between.
What I'd like to know is what seats and console can I put in there to replace the big bench seat, and would I need to do any major modifications?
I found a picture of some full-size Bronco seats here which don't look too bad (if they'd fit), but a console is a must.
I put bronco seats in my '84. I believe the front and back bolt on the drivers side fit fine, and I drilled the inside set. Make sure you put a piece of angle iron or plate over the ones you drill out, because that will spread out your weight. I simply cut a piece of 3/32" bedrail from an old bed frame and put it between the rear two holes (no welding required, never broke / bent the floor, and I am 6'2" 250lbs).
The passenger side, only the front outer hole will fit. the 'ejector' part of the seat is shorter so drill two more holes in the back, and reinforce them.
I've heard that some f-series' of that era actually came with bucket seats...is this true? If so, anyone interested in selling theirs or trading for a bench? :P
You could probably do it, however, it'd probably cost a good deal just to acquire the seats to do the fitting.
bubba-
no problem. The other thing I might mention about bronco buckets, is that they seem like they don't go back as far as the regular bench. I think the lip that sticks out touches the back of the cab is the culprit.

thanks
Hey, I just happen to be a "Crown Vic Addict"! (http://www.crownvic.net). So it shouldn't be too hard for me to acquire some CV seats. I currently own a '90 and used to own a '94.
Anyway, to get back to the point, what's involved to install the Crown Vic seats? From what year(s) will fit? And it seems like they'd be sitting kinda low in an F-250...
well i had to make new holes. 8 in total, passenger seat was so easy but the drivers since it ha power options i had a small problem with the back one in the the middle. i had to put some spacers to evn the seats as the floor is on even in the back.
took me four days but i was doing other thing in the that time. two days should be plenty of time.
a freind of mine had an 86 supercab and the buckets & console are the same as a fullsize bronco looks real good i am planing on after market seats and console more like the new superdutys in my 86
yeah the super cabs ive seen have the bucket seats and console would one out of a 80 to 86 bolts into my 84 f250 xlt exsiting bolt holes i dont want to have to be drilling new holes or anyhtign just something that would bolt into the exsiting bench seat holes would be nice i know where i can get a console out of a super cab but not sure if they will fit if any of you know for sure would be nice to know
