I want to install late model bucket seats and console in my 85 Ranger. It currently has bench seat. Can anyone recommend what type of seats to get. I was thinking about some Escape seats.
Any help would be appreciated.
If you do find some seats that fit in your vehicle, I recommend that you spend some time sitting in them before you purchase.
During my working days (I'm now retired) I spent a lot of time in rental cars with bucket seats. I'm not a big person. 160-pounds at 6-feet and I find that bucket seats cramp my thighs and almost put my legs to sleep.
I realize that we have "different strokes for different folks", but for my bucket, I'll go for the bench seats.

I usually custom fit whatever seats I am using in my vehicles. I find that tilting the bottom of the seat to fit my legs, spreading the pressure out evenly, is the most important. Then I adjust the back of the seat (modifying the mechanism if required).
Thanks for using FTE!

I would find a set of Ford Sport-Buckets from a 1996 or earlier Ranger.
This was when their Sport Bucket Seats were REAL Sport Bucket Seats. Power adjustable bolsters, useable Lumbar support, perfect form and fit, and that wonderful adjustable thigh support up front.
What shame they de-conted the 'Sport Bucket' into the seat we have today, which really isn't nothing more than the standard cloth split-bench with the center cut out for the center console
Even the seats in a $40,000 Explorer suck.
Ford has really lost it's way when it comes to seat design
Oh, TruckLarry, you're SOOOOOOOO right!! How I miss those original sport buckets! I had them in a '94 Explorer, and they were, WITHOUT A DOUBT, the most comfortable, best-fitting seats I've ever had in a vehicle. If anyone finds a set of these in good shape, LET ME KNOW!! You couldn't have better seats in your truck- they're definitely the ones to look for.
