Oil Filter Relocation

I have a 2003 F150 FX4 with 5.4L. Wondering if any of you have used the oil filter relocation kits? If so which ones? Also, does anyone know it this will void the engine warranty?

I havent tried any of the different kits so I cant comment on any of them, but your warranty shouldn't be affected at all unless the filter kit causes the problem, i.e. if a hose blew off and the engine ran out of oil your warranty would be void.

I wanted to install one myself but after looking into it, I didn't like the idea of the hoses. I thought there could be a problem with that leaking / blowing and you wouldn't know about it until ---bleeeewie.
Let us know if you find a package that looks safe

May I ask why U want to relocate the filter?

Where is your filter now?

Answer my question and I can tell U what to buy.

The first reason I'd relocate it is for better access. The second is I purchased an oil cooler sleave (something I saw on "Trucks TV") which after getting I found won't fit unless the filter is not obstructed.
What ideas do you have about where / what to get pro3qtr?

See I have a 98 F150 and my filter is behind the bumper !

So why can't U just use the Ford HD cooler hoses and adapter??

U should find all of the above at a wrecking yard.

Factory fit and finish

Rusty, where is your filter located? My 1999 also has it under the front bumper. Very easy to access.

Mines up under the wheel well by the motor mount. With my headers -- front differential and all the monkey business associated with my lift kit (i.e. steering stabilizer, differential lowering brackets) I have a hard time reaching it.
I’d like to mount it on the frame somewhere near by but easier to reach.

Thats one of the things for didn't design so well, the oil filter location. It is a big pain on the expys. When I bought my truck, I was told that a relocation kit would void the warranty, otherwise I would have put one on right away.

Now I am confused, the oil cooler is a option on these trucks right??
Mine has one, thats why its under the bumper

Ford can not void a warranty If u use their parts.

I added a cabin filter to my truck, not gonna void my heater core leak.

Now if U buy some cheep kit, U might be out of luck

Why do some trucks have the filter under the bumper (like mine) and others have it under the wheel well?

My 2001 5.4 OffRoad 4x4 with towing package is right on the block in front of the mount as well. It is easy to get to, it even has the plastic shute so that the oil runs down into the drain pan instead of all over the differential. But I do not have a lift kit and things to obstruct the filter. Iwonder why mine doesn't have a cooler?

My girlfiend just bought a 03 5.4 FX4 extend cab in october. I just cnaged the oil a few weeks ago and it was a pain in the a@@! I have a 93 ranger 4.0 and its so easy, right there next to the radius arm straight up and down. Hers is very difficult to get to and impossible to get an oil filter wrench on! It took me 2 hours but hopefully Ive got the system down now! Any tips?

Don't over tighten the filter.

Have not use a wrench in 16 years. (filters I installed)
