[updated:LAST EDITED ON 27-Sep-02 AT 06:20 PM (EST)]I'm trying to see if my truck is eligible for TSB 00-24-4 since my tranny temps were higher than I expected last time I towed the trailer up a grade on a 100 degree day.
I've got two questions:
How can I determine the build date of my truck??
What kinda tranny temps are you guys(and gals- sorry vinny8;-) ) seeing while towing in hot conditions??

Check the decal in the drivers door jam. It will have the date. Second, if your truck is still under the factory 3/36 warranty then you should be covered. I see temps in the 180's towing hills here on 110 degree days. Runs about 165 normal. I have just the stock cooler, not the updated system. Temps are taken from the test port on the tranny.
I was hauling a mini-dump trailer, pulling 12800 lb of gravel in 102 degree Texas heat and my Temp run between 144 and 163F. I use a digital gauge. Hope this helps you. Cab you post the TSB?
My 2000 F350 V10 was just out of warranty (40,000 miles). My dealer installed the TSB and my cost was $400.00. Ford authorized an out of warranty adjustment which means the customer pays 50% (the price of the upgrade not covered under warranty is $800.00). Good luck.
Luckily my build date is June 2000, so my SD had the upgraded radiator/cooler. Still wondering why I was seeing 195 degrees on the old tranny temp meter.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 30-Sep-02 AT 09:04 PM (EST)]Just an fyi... My radiator sprung a leak a couple months ago. I took it to Ford who replaced it with a new one. It has the added cooler. It is not hooked up.. yet. The radiator was $348 Total for labor, radiator and coolant was $544. By the looks of things, all I'd neeed to do is add a couple fittings and some longer hose to make it work.
