I have a quick question about the warning buzzer in my 1995 F150. I noticed that on the electrical diagram there is a wire going from the headlamp switch to the warning buzzer. When I leave my lights on the buzzer does not go off. My friends truck (same one) does the same thing. Is the buzzer supposed to sound when the lights are left on? Seems strange that both trucks do the same thing but there is a wire leading to the buzzer from the light switch. THe buzzer is otherwise functional (seatbelt warning, key in ignition etc...) thanks in advance
There should be voltage at the brown wire on the warning chime with the headlights on. If not, you'll have to follow that wire to where it splices into the exterior light circuit. The splice is above the chime module, but it's a job to get back to it because of the ductwork.
Thanks for the replies. THere is voltage at the brown wire when the lights are on. IT does not sound with the lights on and the door open. Can i assume that the module is bad then? It works for all of its other intended functions. Thanks
Thanks for the replies. I think I should have been more specific though. Does anyone know for sure if the buzzer is supposed to sound with the lights on. It seems that alot of the F150s of this era do have have the buzzer sould with the lights on. I looked at the diagram and all of the voltages that shold be at the pins are there when they are supposed to be. I want the buzzer to work cause im a TARD and im always leaving my lights on LOL. THanks!!!
Yes, it should buz or ding when the lights are on. But only when the drivers door is open. Your truck may be like mine. My drivers door switch needs cleaned and a better ground. Right now my buzzer won't buz. Easy check is to see if your dome light comes on when the drivers door is open. If dome light is inop the "headlights on" chime won't work either.
