Headlight buzzer??

Well, I left my lights on again today and drained the battery for about the 4th time since I've owned my 92 F150 (purchased about 2 months ago).

I've become accustomed to the reminder buzzer on my other vehicles that sounds when the headlights are left on and the door is opened. This truck has a functional seatbelt buzzer and a door ajar buzzer, so something tells me there should be a headlight buzzer as well.

Can anyone confirm or deny the existence of a headlight buzzer on a 92 F150? If it's supposed to have one, any suggestions as to what might be wrong (since door ajar and seatbelt buzzer work, apparently the door plunger and buzzer circuits are OK).

Thanks,

Russ

I know you should have a headlight buzzer. As far as why it doesn't work and the others do, I don't know. A loose connection to the buzzer?

Headlight buzzer??

Russs, Check under the dash and see if the previous owner disconnected the buzzer. My truck came with one. There are a lot of people who own Ford's and don't like the headlight buzzer. They wind up disconnecting it. Good luck.

I agree, chekc for a disconnected wire. I would never disconnect the headlight warning. IT's saved my butt a few times. The one I did disconnect was the Key-In warning. That one gets very annoying especially when I leave my door open for whatever reason. And that too is just a simple one wire connector.

Another thing to think about, only XLT models and EB versions of the truck have headlight buzzers, my XL has no buzzer or anyway to hook it up.

LAST EDITED ON 08-Mar-01 AT 06:51 PM (EST)[p]I do believe it's a bell isn't it? Both of my trucks have bell's that ding when the headlights are on. Just as when the keys are left in the ignition too.

I replaced the ignition switch on my 1993 f-150 awile back because it was broken. There was a wire that is on the switch that i left unhooked, it was the key in bell. The headlights on switch is independent.

Headlight buzzer??

I wish my truck had a "bonger" I think hotrodford_88 had a thread about this awile ago. on my truck I only have a key in "BUZZZZZZZZ" That is so anoyingly loud that I cant think when my door is open...I found the fuse that controls it but when that is pulled the dome light doesn't function either, can anyone point me to where to disconnect the wire for it?

My '92 F150 does have the headlight buzzer. I love it. But to the same extent, the Bronco we have ('94) dosen't have it.

Headlight buzzer??

XL's all have buzzers to have bonger you had to buy an xlt , what a joke hey, and i think kevint is right the xls only have a key in warning not a headlight on warning another xlt only option i think but ! dont quote me but im sure on the bonger vs. buzzer i bet the wiring plug is even different thus making it harder to just "plug in" a bonger , with all the electronic crap they keep addding i think the electrical engineers at our auto makers have to much time on there hands, so they have to justify being there by making electronically shifted transmissions, a big mistake the vacuum modulator was perfect it always knew when to shift rarely malfunctioned and was easy and cheap to fix so what do they do give us a piece of crap e40d thanks guys ! i do believe in technology but useless technology is another story, Cant wait to see the camless diesel tho and the powerstroke is truely amazing too !

Yup! That's right. I knew there was a better term for buzzer, or at least the buzzer in my truck. I do have the "Bonger". I forgot all about that "bonger / buzzer" thread from months back.

Headlight buzzer??

I know on my '95 I unhooked a gray box under the dash in the middle (under the heat outlet) and that disabled the door open and key-in buzzer. At the same time it disabled the lights on buzzer. I have done the same thing - left my lights on a few times. I have made it a habit to punch the headlight switch every time I get out of the truck now... If I hook that box back up, there is a way to disable JUST the door-open and key-in buzzer?

My truck is a '95 F-150 XLT

Ryan

Buzzer/dinger video to sum up this conversation to a close. No more cant wire it up talk as this guy didnt have a light on buzzer. 7 wires and 6 prong buzzer is the base. 7 pin buzzer has the lights on warning.

Good info. I don't believe I have a buzzer/dinger on my 95 XLT. I will have to check to see if it's unplugged. Thanks.
