I have a 2001 f350 CC that recently has begun having front end shake when braking. I can also feel the brake pedal "pulse" at very low speeds. The problem is that is a on/off problem usally occuring after some driving. I thought if I have a warped rotor it would be a continuous problem! I pulled the front tires and pads and rotors looked good. I was looking for some input before putting up the cash to replace the front rotors and pads.
If it does it all of the time and gets worse at times, I would vote for warped rotor. They can sometimes be more profound when the brakes heat up. I would get those rotors turned if they have never been turned before.
I just went through about the same thing. I replaced front rotors and pads, my pads were due for replacement anyway. I had all the signs of warped front rotors but that did fix the problem. It ended up being the rear pads. I still notice a very small amount of pulsing at very slow braking speeds, and I think it is coming from my rear driver side rotor. If I were you I would check the rear pads, or maybe replace pads before rotors. My rear pads were worse off than the front. Hope this helps any.
I am going through the same thing right now. The pulsing is not always there, but it sure seems like warped rotors. I just had the rotors ground yesterday and it seemed to help. There is a catch though. About a year ago, I put on new aftermarket rotors because of the same problem, and it solved the problem for about a month and then the pulsing came back. I purposely go easy on the brakes. I am stumped. I hope the problem is fixed this time. -BB
i pulsing brake pedal is usually the rear brakes.... and you wont notice a warped rotor just by looking at it. If your tires have been off recently improperly torqued lugnuts can cause it too
had my front rotors replaced on warranty at 22k and it solved the pulsing when applying the brakes. now pulsing again at, you guessed it 38k, no warranty. Have ALWAYS torqued lugs with a snap on wrench so I don't think that has much to do with it. Not sure what is up this time but it feels just like when they replaced the front rotors,,,,maintain my truck religously and am really getting sick of this, lets see, AC that sucked, dealer that sucked, front rotors that suck,, like the truck but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Having the same problem. Pulsing sometimes a hard pulsing sensation when braking. What would couse the rotors to warp? We changed the front rotors and pads. Also changed the back pads, couldn't get the back rotors off.

Reason: wrong spelling
This is a very common problem with our Superduty trucks. The dealer turned my rotors under warranty, but the problem came back after the warranty expired. I also religiously use a torque wrench when tightening the lug nuts in a crossover pattern and make sure the caliper slide pins are well lubricated. I downshift on hills to avoid riding the brakes. Nothing helps with the stock brakes.
My solutions that's worked for 20k now is to replace the rotors and pads with slotted, cryogenically treated rotors from ART www.appliedrotortechnology.com . They are more expensive than factory parts, but I don't plan on replacing them again. Lot's of guys here have had great succes with these brakes.
It's not so much the rotors warping, as getting scored. The score marks are not the same depth all the way around, so as the pad wears into the score mark, they do feel like they are warped. The feeling will change as they get hotter.
Get the rotors cut (or replaced) all around, and new pads.
One thing, the caliper slides may be stuck, which can exacerbate the "warped rotor" feel by scoring the rotors.
If you have a really bad pulsing in the brake pedal, sounds like one of the rotors is cracked at the vanes and seperating. Heat will certainly make it worse/better.
I have a 04 f250/sd with pulsing brake pedel and the front end shake at 19,000 miles. Does anyone know if it is under warranty ? I don't think I should be fixing this at this mileage. Thanks for any help you can give me on this
Take a look at the Powerslot rotors and Hawk pads, best change I have made to my truck. In fact it was so much better we got DPPI set up as a Warehouse for them and started selling them. Also do yourself a favor, pull the calipers and check the piston action, check the pins for corrosion, do the rear brakes at the same time and then you'll be 100% up to snuff and won't have any lingering issues that are difficult to find and very very annoying too!
Call us if you have any questions we'll be glad to help you on them.
