I have a 89 EB bronco.I have given up on the push button FWD.I would like to change over to a manual shift transfer.Does anyone know what one will interchange? Also what one may be better (if there is one to look for) I have 5.0 AOD trans if that helps.
OK what vehicle would they be in? Are those numbers the ID numbers ? Is there an ID plate or something to identify if i found the right one? I know jack about tranfers(i have worked on just about everything but them) Thanks for any help.
Hot rod , if u go to your local salvage yard they should tell u if (they have a computer system. When i went to look for a shift motor for my transfer case they gave me a print out of all vehicles that would fit my 1992 bronco (which included explorers) TR
bw1356 ford bronco and f-series trucks 1986-1996, bw1345 ford bronco and f-series trucks 1980-1986, np-208 will also work. all cases have what they is stamped on case 1356 is stonger
huh, none of the salvage yards i frequent have a computer
and if he don't like you its a pick your own type of thing
4wheelinbroncos
huh (this should be interesting...)
how do you figure a aluminum case chain driven BW1356
is stronger than my cast iron gear-driven NP205??
by the way i nor anyone(i have asked here and elsewhere) i have ever found have had a NP205 break bad seal maybe
the major problem with the NP205 is gearing its not that much (like a 2.6) but its enough
i try not to think about it since its a bich to change
don't like chains under touque ..yup they "work" but i could not trust them to be there when needed i want nice strong gears
although they put more pressure on the case
where as a chain drive stresses the chain instead or just looses some of the tourque through the tentioner
its cast iron case and weight is not a major issue(not ?50 lbs?)
what was the original question??
what motor are you running any mods?
sorry i keep thinking in terms of my truck
if you using a 302/5.0/351W/5.8 pick the lightest transfer case that will fit (like the BW ford used) unless you are running big tires on the original gearing not like you have a huge bottom end torque on it like a 400 or 460 or even a 300(or deisel for that matter)
Ok I went to the yard and here is what I found.Found a E7TA-7A(1356)(witch could not be found in the hollander book)case laying out of a truck have no clue what it came out of,but was a manual shift. Then I found a 89 F150 4WD with manual trans and manual tranfer case. They said thay can pull the truck out and get the ID numbers in the morning. Is there any change over between manual trans and auto? I was kinda excited about finding a 89 truck same year as my bronco. What do you guys think?

Just get the pan from the truck. It will have the hole in it already. It should just unbolt. I picked up a pan for my bronco that I plan on swapping a ZF in place of the C6.
