I have an '02 F-250 SD Crew Cab. After about 20K miles I started to notice what feels like slack in the drive train. It is only noticeable when leaving a dead stop. I was in a friend of mine's truck that is the same truck except an '01 and his does the exact same thing. I took it into Ford and they said everything is normal. Has anyone else experienced the same and fixed it or are you putting up with it? It is not a big deal, but something I have never heard of before my truck started to do it. Thanks.
Is this an auto or a handshaker manual 6speed.
Could you be more specific in what you are feeling or hearing.
Noises ,clunking and so on.
thats a good thread Monsta! has sent you to.

It is an auto transmission. It is not so much a sound, but you can feel it. It sounds exactly like there is some play in the drive train. The instance that you step on the gas, there is a feeling of hesitation followed by a thud that you can feel in the whole truck. It sounds exactly like a lot of people discribed in the old thread.
when you brought your truck to the dealer did you take the tech for a ride in the truck ?
Make it do it for them and suggest that they grease the the slip joint in the drive shaft.
also ask for a u-joint inspection as well as the backlash and ls unit in the rear dif chkd ,if it has a limited slip rear??
Do either of the trucks you mention here do a lot of towing ?
and are they 4x4 or psd .
My truck has done what you describe from day 1. I don't think mine is the slip yoke. There is no bump, thump, jerk or anything like what I have seen described in the slip yoke threads. Mine is more like it's taking up a little slack as it starts from a stop. I have had the tech drive it at the dealership and he says it is normal. It's not a lot, but just enough to notice.
