On my 2002 F150, they are the rubber bushings that are on the hangers of the exhaust system (2 of them close to the rear axle). I guess they just soak up vibrations before you can hear or feel them. I took mine off, since I replaced the OEM muffler. Wish I had taken them off without tearing them up so I could of sold them on E-bay! I think the earlier models didn't have them?

Triton,i'm referring to the "assembly damper" located right after the "Y" on the exhaust piping.It is a 2" pipe,sealed at each end,welded onto a piece of flat stock,clamped onto the exhaust pipe. I want to know how this device is suppose to rid vibration.
