harmonic damper

What is the stock harmonic damper capable of spinning? I plan on running up to 6000 rpm. the damper is a 1976 390, do I need one of those race dampers?

The stock later damper is supposed to be good for 6,500. Anything over that and an aftermarket SFI approved damper is recommended. Some of the dampers I have seen on 390s are so skinny I don't see how they could be good for spinning high RPMs.
