I'm trying to install a two way radio and needing to tap a wire for power. My first choice was to just go into the fuze box and squeeze the positive wire in with a fuze and ground the negative, but with the new smaller fuzes there isn't room to get the wire in with the fuze.
My next thought is to tap into the cigarette lighter power. I removed the dash panel with the silly hook thing next to the cigarette lighter to get to the wires. The cigarette lighter has 2 wires - a black one and a blue one with a white stripe. Which one of these is positive and which one is negative? I'd guess that black is negative, but I want to make sure instead of ruining my two way radio and/or truck.
There is a splitter type fuse holder available that plugs into a fuse location that you choose.I know that they are available for the standard size blade type fuses and I believe that they are also made for the smaller type also.Just about any auto parts store can fix you up.

Steve is correct. These are mini-fuse taps. They allow you to install a female stab connector right onto your mini-fuse. I've used them on my SD. They work nice and fit well into our fuse box panels.
