The best way to remove it...

Try backing up all day long,
it will fall off
It always falls off when you need the mirror

i agree with mhg, use a heat gun or hairdryer on the OUTSIDE of the windshield to heat it, it will fall right off

The best glass adhesive is either Loctite 416 or 420 with 7113 accelerator.
Most off the shelf repair kits have a 6 mo. shelf life and are usually expired.
The 420 will hold 5 pounds within 30 sec.

I used to install windshields for speedy....tap the base of the mirror where it sits on the metal tab upwards with a deadblow hammer (plastic hammer) the mirror will slide up the tab as you tap it. If you want to remove the tab to relocate it higher or lower heat it up a little ( the tab itself not the windshield on the outside) and as someone mentioned twist and pull don't just pull. the best adhesive is locktite with the spray primer not the mixing epoxy, use the spray and glue sparingly and let it sit for 20 mins.make sure all the old glue is off both the w/s and the button and it should stick quite well. I hope this helps!

Tim,
Take it to a windshield shop. They'll probably glue it on for a couple of bucks.

If a hairdryer or heat gun will loosen the tab, how come in the hot
summer sun it still stays on ?
