The check engine light came on, on my 1997 F-150 4.2. I took it to Auto Zone and got the code PO 141. The Haynes manual says that it is the "Downstream heated O2 sensor heater circuit fault (Bank 1)" I got a new sensor, haven't put it in yet. I was wondering if there was more to it than replacing the sensor? The Haynes Manual says something about "backprobing" the plug with a paper clip and checking it out on a multimeter. What does backprobing mean?
Thanks and Happy New Year

My understanding of back probing is to check the current while the plug is connected to it’s component.
This is done by inserting pins into the back of the electrical connector through the insulation or at least deep enough to touch something metal in there so it can be tested while connected.
