oil temp? / coolant temp
I'm in the process of installing quad pod gauges on my '04 F350. It is taking me forever, ignorance and fumble fingers being the main problems. I'm trying to find a place to plumb into the coolant system. My local dealer tells me Ford had no place to do this on the '04 6.0. He tells me they use oil temp for their dash gauge. There have been a number of comments on Ford's temp and tranny gauges operation so no need to go on about them. My question is how to plumb into the coolant system. Would I be better trying to plumb into the oil system as per Ford? If the oil system is the better option, where do I access it? If I go with the oil system what should the operating temperatures be?
