Clunking noise underneath

I have a 95 Explorer XLT 4x4 4dr. w/auto trans. Over the time I've had it, it seems to have developed an annoying little problem. Sometimes when I shift between forward and reverse (usually happens on inclines, especially after being in Park), I hear a clunking noise underneath the vehicle. At first I thought it was the transmission, but that can't be because of the timing of the noise. Generally, the clunk would come after the gears shifted and the vehicle started to move. That makes me think that it's a problem in either the linkage to the rear axle or the suspension. I took it into my local dealership once and tried to describe the problem, and they replaced the U-bolts in the linkage, but the problem never completely went away. If anybody has had this same problem, the input would be much appreciated, thanks.

Maybe lubing the slip yoke would help. Do a search in this forum for 'slip yoke'. There have been lots of threads about it. I don't know if this is the problem or not, but I think it's worth a shot....Good luck.
