I think this was covered here awhile back, but I can't come up with anything when I do a search. I am looking for a gps unit. Doesn't have to be real fancy, but accuracy is a must. I will be using it to locate some hunting spots in a plot of public land, and I really don't want to use blaze orange ribbons to lead everyone else to the place . I don't need a highly technical one, easy to use would be a plus!!! the most amount of places I would need it to remeber is 8. What is a good brand, decent priced, and model # for that brand?....thanks, Ben
i also have one as small as a cell phone but im not sure what brand it is i just got it for christmas and it is nice, ill have to take a look at it but i know they got it at cabelas.
For what you need just about any of them will work. However, after you get one, you will start to wonder "why didn't I get a moving map Garmin?" They are all accurate to a few feet so marking corners is a snap, unless you are a surveyor. They are also very cheap for what you get
The newer WAAS (?) enabled ones can be accurate to 10 feet vs. 30-50 feet for the older ones. If you want to get super accurate get a GPS that can attach a separate antenna for triangulation.
I owned a Garmin 12 and it was great. I sold it on E-Bay for almost as much as I bought it. They hold their value well and you might be able to pick up a used one cheap. I used mine to survey my property when I could not find my iron pins in the middle of the woods with a compass. It worked swell.
Garmin all the way! Get the carrying case. I bought mine from West Marine and the sales help was very helpful! After telling them what I needed, he gave me various models to try in the store. You might pay $10 more than mail order, but, I doubt you will get better support.
