I would like to know if it is possible to reprogram computer for bigger size tires. I have installed Michelins 285/75/16 on my 02 250 cc psd. I would like to do it myself if it is possible, those tires they sure don't give them away cheap. Thanks, Miro
Miro,
My understanding in reading various posts here on the FTE SD forum is that unless you have an aftermarket power programmer, you need to go to the dealer and have them reset the trucks stock computer for the larger tires. If memory serves, it isn't a lot of money to have them do it.
truspeed or dealer reflash..... dealer can reflash up to 35" tires.... will cost you around 100 bucks or so.... truspeed will cost you about 170 and you can reprogram if you ever decide to change the tires again....
so... do it once, dealer is a better deal... do it twice or more, truspeed wins out (of course we are talking under 35" tires here).
you may want to do a search and get the instructions for a reflash for larger tires if you have the dealer do it... some dealers either can't or won't look for the instructions on how to accomplish this and having this info in hand will speed things up.
