My daily driver is a '99 F150 regular cab XLT with AM/FM cassette and I'd like to upgrade to the Ford stock single disk AM/FM CD unit. Is this a simple plug and play or are their options I need to be aware of? Will a premium sound head function or do I need an external amp, etc...?

I don't want to go with aftermarket equipment; too much money. I've seen what appears to be good deals on heads on EBAY, many with warranties. Anyone have experience here?

I can see you haven't got any answers. Let me give you my opinion--go aftermarket. I have an 03 xl and bought a sears audiovox for 39 which was half price and it sounds and works great. I had looked on ebay for oem and even asked my dealer about a cd player and they priced me way over 200. Find yourself a good installer. Good luck.
