I have a 2008 ranger with a basic am/fm radio. Can I swap another ford am/fm with a cd player? Is the wiring harness/plug compatible?

 

Check with Crutchfield to see what will fit. Also, any salvage yard should be able to tell you what you want to know.

 

Yes it should swap, 07+ radios should work fine for you

 

Crutchfield usually has some really good deals on complete lower end head units. I found an online coupon for %10 off, or something similar, they had a deal going on at the same time for free wire and dash install parts, AND if you bought one over a certain price shipping was free. Think I spent $120 total for a painless install. This was about 1 year ago. Just a thought.
