Aftermarket Reverse lights

I got a set of lights for Christmas. I want to install them like backup lights but I don't know wich wire is the reverse light wire.

I tryed to do a search but ended up more confused than I already am.

Any help would be apreciated.

2003 Superduty incase it helps.

I just did this to my truck today, On your 7 pin trailer harness the center pin is your backup lights, I believe the wire is brown with a black stripe. Look to make sure. I drilled and tapped the bottom of my reciever and mounted the lights there. The lights are tucked up under the bumper and out of harms way. I put the truck into reverse and its like having headlights in the back of the truck Hope this helps

Pulling the rear light enclosure takes about 2 mins for 4 screws..

LOTS of room in there and up to there, so I just made my tap IN the light enclosure by running the wire up to there...

Curious if you ran relay set up or just tapped into trailer harness?
Was debating if relay and power was needed if tapping into trailer harness, I sort of figuring the wiring to the trailer harness would handle the extra reverse lights.
Thanks

...and thanks from me, too. I am the WORST at electrical, so all this information REALLY helps as I draw nearer to getting some backup lights.

plenty of power of of the trailer harness. Besides, how long do you leave your truck in reverse?

I was thininig of using a relay, this way I could also turn the lights on from a dash switch. Would come in handy when hooking up a trailer.

I just put a set of driving lights on my rear bumper where the holes are drilled from the factory. I installed a switch panel and ran the wires to it as I have other lights on the front. The rear lights look slick. Already have had some comments on them.

Good luck!!

I already have the lights mounted to the rear with a switch on the dash. Could I also run a jumper wire from the + wire on the lights to the middle wire on the hitch plug. Would I have to install a relay to accomplish this? Thanks!

You most likely would not need a relay. I'm just in the habit of using one so I can run smaller wire behind the dash.
