im trying to add extra reverse lights to my truck and was wondering if on the trailer wires if there was a wire i could connect to and if so what color is that wire.
there isn't going to be a reverse light in the trailor wireing harnes... at least no trailors I've seen have back up lights ;-) Your best bet woule be to pop out a trail light on the truck and follow the reverse wire down and splice into that puppy. Depending on how many lights you are running you may want to use a relay. Hope this helps.
hey i seen that Reese makes a light that plugs into your round plug in the bumper ..i seen it lowe's for like 25 bucks ... and i have tested my round trailer light plug and their is a spot for reverse ... i just never made it back out to buy it from lowe's
well on my f250 i added extra reverse to it and someone told me on here that there was a wire in the round connection and i found it on my f250. But i dont remember what color the wire was. So i was wondering if the f150 was the same
In the large trailer connector, the center terminal is the auxiliary terminal, if you want to use it. Or you can connect onto wires going to backup lamps.
ya i did that on my f250 and it acted light it was to much light and wouldnt light up as much. So thats how i found out about the reverse wire in the round trailer connection so i tied into that and it got alot brighter that way. I also want my lights to come on when i put it in reverse to not by switch if possible.
Put truck in reverse turn key on, be sure backup lights are on, then on trailer connector take a test light and see if you have 12 volts on a terminal, if so take out of reverse and see if the voltage goes off.
