After 33 years as a OTR truck driver, I plan to retire from that industry and with the company I am employed with at present!

Life has been good,
Lenny

I am retired (semi!) I currently work 3 days weekly as a career counselor for a local college. I work just to have something to do and the job is easy and fun! Four day weekends every weekend, holidays and summer off! Can't beat it!

I'm going to 21 years in the country/golf club industry and though hours are long and no weekends, I've learn to love it and enjoy it!! Kids are out of the house and my wife and I are in our early 50's and as long as I have a nice Fors truck I'm set.. Yes, I plan to retire from this job or industry and do day trading to supplement income when I do so...

I plan to retire here, but would rather not. I have a back that won't allow me to do much of anything else and consider myself lucky to have a job.

I'm retired as long as I want to be; doesn't get any better........ At age 38 I realized that my years of careful planning and discipline had finally paid off and that was 5 years ago. Finally I was in a position to no longer have to depend on other people and put up with circumstances beyond my control. Financial stability and security had now become a reality. I take a job now and then for fun, generally of a contract nature, just for a change. I also like playing the stock market, both for direct gains and gains from short sales. What really amazes me is how most people do NOT plan for their future and place there well being in the hands of others; NO, NO, NO, NO, BADDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!! Nobody cares more about your future than you do, nobody! NEVER depend 100% on your companys retirement plan; that's just plain irresponsible. You need to do it for yourself.

Nobody cares more about your future than you do, nobody! NEVER depend 100% on your company's retirement plan; that's just plain irresponsible. You need to do it for yourself.

You must be in an area where jobs are plentiful and pay very well to have retired at your delicate age. It doesn't work that way everywhere. Irresponsible? Look at it this way and while you are at it, look around.... there aren't that many jobs that pay well enough for everyone to have it made at your age, much less set money aside for retirement. Most people have enough trouble making it from paycheck to paycheck.

Ive worked hard all my life. I'm a combat veteran. I don't have the slightest idea of when OR HOW I will ever be able to retire. You are just one of the lucky ones who worked hard and it paid off for you. To call me or anyone else irresponsible just because we aren't retired already is pretty arrogant of you.

We all care about our futures. Not all of us have the same abilities due to one reason or another. I am handicapped physically and very limited in what I can do, so I am pretty lucky to have work at all.

Retire? Not in this life time.... and it isn't because I haven't worked hard, so no lectures, young man.
