I have a 16' deep Vee fishing boat with a 25 hp O.B. motor (1200-1300# loaded with gear) that I tow with my '86 150 - stock 300 IL, 3-spd trans. with 8.8 posiloc rearend.
I have been in and out of mud pits and pulled up and out of slime covered boat ramps that other trucks just sat and spun the tires.
I don't know how many big 4x4 GMC's & Dodges I have seen sit and spin the tires like hell while I just pull right up and out - they just look at me and can't belive it.
Last summer I helped a guy who had lost control of his 2500 4x4 Silverado trying to pull out a 30' pontoon boat that had rolled back so far in the water it stalled the engine.(He blamed his wife for not screaming stop - hell he just didn't know what he was doing) I got him to swim out and unload the pontoon boat and I pulled his dead truck with trailer and his bed full of water up and to the parking lot. Then I pulled his pontoon boat out. He wanted to give me $100 for the help - I just said" remember a little old Ford with a 6 banger saved the day"
