oil pressure gauge doesn't work

oil pressure gauge doesn't work

on my 95 250 the oil gauge has been broke for the past year or so.The needle is stuck all the way over to the right as far as it can go.A guy at a shop told me the only way to fix it is to drop the oil pan.Is he right is this what i have to do or is there an easier way?

No,
There is a "Sending Unit" that is attached on the outside of the engine, with a wire that runs to the dash, via a wiring harness.

What engine do you have? The 302 and 351w sending units are near the front driver's side, down low near the oil filter.

i have a 351w what should i look for to fix it?i want to fix it as soon as possible.

It will look like a small metal can with a wire coming out of the middle of it.

His '92 probably has the smaller switch, about the size of a big spark plug.

Pegged towards high means a ground either in the sender or the line from the sender to the gauge.
