4.9l low power during accelaration
I've got a 1985 F-150 4X4, 4spd w/ac and ps. 4.9l engine. It was running like the exhaust was stopped up so I cut the exhaust loose in front of the convertor. It still ran like crap. it will start and idle ok after it warms up ok. It had a really bad exhaust leak under the intake around that heater flap thing. I've got a set of split exhaust from a EFI 4.9l I'm going to put on it and put the O2 sensor back in it. What can I check out for the Feedback carb w/o going to a shop? It still sounded like the exhaust was stopped up with the convertors cut loose, kind of like it was trying to turn up but could not. I want to try to keep the emission stuff on the engine as in the very near future the IM state specs will be in effect in my county. I did find the egr diaphram was busted, I plugged that to stop the intake leak and checked to make sure it was not stuck and leaking. I did not see a vacum advance on the distributor, so it can't be that. It runs about like the timing's off or the things not getting enough air in or out, no backfiring or rude things, just no power. I'm at the floor and can just get 60mph out of it. The fuel tank is not running in a vacum either. Got any ideas?
