Transmission overdrive
99 F250 superduty PSD. When in cruise control and going up a small hill at 45mph it will shift out of overdrive but won't sift back in when level off or going down hill. The transmission is a ford rebuilt and has about 3K miles on it. Suggestions?

When it does shift, does it shift hard? Mine was doing what yours is and they (dealer) told me it was probably a shift solenoid sticking. It only did it for about 100 miles and has been fine since. It shifted in and out of OD enough in that 100 miles to overheat the tranny.

I was told by ford that it did not have warranty. I bought it used in july 2003. When i pull my 5th wheel it shifts hard when it goes out of overdrive. Dealer told me that it was the torque converter locking up. It acts more like the overdrive.Dealer told me that I would have to have my 5th wheel hooked up before they could check it. Tonyj
