I had a post a while back concerning transmission problems on my 99 F350 4x4. Truck would go into neutral when going downhill and towing. It was diagnosed as a bad sprage (sp??) gear in the transmission. The truck only had 64,000 miles on it.
I asked the dealer if Ford would help me as the truck has so little milage. They agreed that if I paid $500, they would put in a new tranny and cover all costs up to an additional $3000. I felt that was a pretty fair deal! They also did the 00-23-10 TSB (Trans Oil Filter) while they were at it. I appreciated that they stepped up to help - Thank you Ford and my local dealer (Lou Grubb Ford, Arizona)!
Nice to hear a positive (well sorta) story of Ford and a dealer stepping up. It seems pretty rare, and it shouldn't be. I think for Ford to do something for you at 64,000 miles is above and beyond the call of duty, seeing as you're double your warranty period.
Kudos to Ford and your dealer. I hope this is a sign of things to come.
