Parabolic Leaf Springs
1. Is adding leaf(s) the best way to lift a few inches?
2. Is there a limit to how many you can add?
3. Are all "add-a-leafs" parabolic, does it matter?
Any help would be appreciated
I've done it to two vehicles, my '89 F250HD and an 81 Jeep J10. I added leafs to the front of the F250, and, while it raised it up, it made the ride harsh, required new shims and parts to align the front end thanks to the TTB, and in the end, the springs sag like any other.
In the case of the J10, which was a sweet looking truck with the lift the springs gave it, it made the ride so stiff that after about my fifth concussion
crossing the railroad tracks I just took them out and swallowed the money. In both cases the work was done by a qualified and reputable spring service shop, who, by the way, warned me the Jeep was going to ride rough. You may find a shop that is able to custom build springs for you that will maintain some kind of ride quality, but by then the price is probably to high to justify it anyway.
