They are different for different vehicles. What are you working on?

i answered in your other post , didnt realise you were switching to carb. just pull your tank pump and run a short hose in its place ,with hose clamps of course, pull the pump wires out of the tank, you dont need loose voltag in there, and put it back in ,you can use a low pressure in line electric pump ,it wont affect your sender , goodluck, bob

some folks have to use what they have available instead of running out and buying new parts , that doesnt make them bad or dumb , just broke. i see that alot up here , i even resemble it myself for a good part of the year . a lot of folks will have a carberated truck sitting in thier drive with a rusted out body and a good running engine and a good looking truck with a efi that they cant afford to fix or nobody within a hundred miles can work on. when its 20 below zero they want something with a heater that will reliably get them down the road . up here when we buy a vehicle we always try to buy two close to the same year so we'll have a parts truck , we never worry about efi or carb, if the parts will bolt across , its a good deal, good luck, bob btw , thats what i enjoy most about this site , they just share info and fixes without judging , and i just thought i would take this oppurtunity to thank all of you who have helped me, respectfully bob

Pulling a long block from an EFI vehicle and installing it into an older vehicle that uses a carb, is not the same as pulling the EFI off an engine and installing a carb in place of it.

There was no mention of swapping out only the long block that I saw, and nothing about the EFI system needing to be repaired either.

One guy here had a rusted out F250 with a high mileage 7.3 Diesel (the ones that got pinholes in #7 and #8 cylinders) and wanted to put it in his perfect body/interior F150 small block 302 truck as the engine was tired!
That's was a nightmare to even think about, have the diesel crap out after all that work and end up where he was to begin with!
Good advice is needed at those times from those of us with some experience in screwing up in the past.

And I hear you on the no money thing as I am short the shoe string in my shoestring budget and am looking for work right now!

But if it's running rough because of a vacuum hose leak, or something fixable (cheap), it would be a shame to pull all that EFI equipment and have to go out and get a carb, manifold and then have it not pass the local smog test and then have no resale value!

The diesel swap was another guy here, and I only mentioned it to try and make a point, that's all.

the reason i want carbed is because this motor i just built has all sorts of aftermarket parts in it that are not compatable with the mass air injection system without a chip and like said no money and also have already spent the money on a new intake and carb that was ment for an old truck but thinks changed and now is going in a 91 tbird. i have never and will never be a fan of fuel injection. i have no smog junk to worry about and if i was to sell this thing the motor would be coming out so i am not worried about that stuff

Sounds like you are all set then.
Where are you that there is no smog?
Can I move there?

If it was a 460 the EFI system was coming off of, I would be drooling to fit it on my 85 F250!
