351/302 block difference

Have a chance at buying a 3 speed w/od, that came off a 351 .
I have a 302. Will the transmission bolt up to my 302 bellhousing?

Thank you

what's it out of ? As the prev. reply says if it's a windsor it will , but if it's a modified it wont . the 351M has the big block bellhousing and the 351 windsor has the small block bellhousing which is common to the 300 I6 ,302,351W,351cleveland.

if a 351c is the same as a 351w or 302 , how come a tranny from a 351c wil not bolt toa a 351w without changing bell houseings
the 351c has a big block bolting pattern

actually the 351M is a big block and uses the same bolt pattern as the 400,429 and460 ,while the 300six,302,351wand351C all share the same bell housing. I hope this clears up some of the confusion.

you are correct, 300, 302, 351w, and 351 cleveland are same, as 351M, 400, 429 etc are same.
