[updated:LAST EDITED ON 08-Nov-02 AT 08:03 PM (EST)]It it unusual for a dealer to dell me a Transfer case service and a front and rear diff service on my 2000 F250 4x4 SuperDuty at 40000 miles???????
Isn't a transaxle on a front wheel drive?
They might be talking about trans service, which makes sense. The diff fluid is supposed to be good for the life of the vehicle but never hurts to change if gone through water or severe duty. Front is probably fine.
4X4 Transaxle service and also front and rear diffs were changed. This truck has been driven a a daily driver with the exception of trailering my boats a few times a year. You curious if I was taken advantage of since I was unsure of the maint. sched. for these. This also was a large Ford dealer that did this...
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 08-Nov-02 AT 08:10 PM (EST)]>My mistake... Transfer Case not Transaxle... Happy Hour has
>gotten to me!!!
Are you sure you didn't go to happy hr before having your truck serviced! Sorry I couldn't resist !
I thought transfer case was 60,000 and rear and front diffs good for 100,000 unless been worked on ,or as stated water or severe duty 1
this is not what I recommend though !I'd be changing alot sooner just because I'm a nutcase when it comes to preventive mait.

I actually did not keep up on the service increments for those areas (Yeah, I know)... and I have had hub issues (Not unlocking in auto )..So while it was in for that warranty work he mentioned that it should have those services done...I assumed that since it was a larger Ford dealer I would take their word for it...

As long as they didn't overcharge on the srvice then, I would rest easy knowing it was everything was A-AOK.

I don't trust dealers or stealers as we call them sometimes!
but when their under warranty ,you gotta go there.
Now you also didn't mention how many miles on your truck?
or was your post meant to say your at 40,000 and this what the dealer said or recommended?Maybe that dealer figured well we got this guy in here, why don't we try and get some $ out of him !
