97 F250 HD
Ford did make an F250 4 door but it only came with a short bed. I've seen quite a few of them running around with the pre-super duty body style.
I think the 460 is a strong and durable motor. I have one in my 96 F250 and it has been a trouble free engine. The E40D automatic transmission, on the other hand, has given me problems. I've gone through 3 of them so far (under warranty) and I only have 45,000 miles on my truck. Those 45,000 miles haven't been hard miles either. I have about 10,000 miles on the final transmission and it seems to be working ok.
Other than the transmission, I ordered my truck fully loaded from the factory and it has been a good truck to me.

I have a 1997 F-250 HG Longbed Extended cab with the 460.
Excellent. No trouble so far. It is a garaged vehicle and kept in tip
top shape.
I have cat back system, K&N, and use Amsoil in the motor, trans
and rear end. I also have the Amsoil dual remote oil filtration
on the engine. It runs smooth and quite. No problems.
On the highways of California it is a bit bumpy. The ride leaves alot to be desired. It only smoothes out when I tow my 5th wheel.
Thinking of putting Firestone air bags on the rear. Antbody have any experience with these? Do they help?
