OK, you need RCA wires, if you dont want an aftermarket stereo, then get a line output converter, it converts speaker wire into RCA, they run about $15 at walmart. Then make sure the RCA wires are not run next to any other wires, if you have to run them next to anything then buy the well insulated RCA wires, it will help alot.

Run the ground however you want, but it will be a good idea 2 keep it under 12", b/c the longer it is the more power it loses due to resistance (or call it impedance).

It shouldnt be a problem to find a close ground, all you need to do is cut your carpet an inch or so and use a self tapping screw.
hope that helps....

any more questions?

Hey Bullard,

You loose power in your ground? (see your post above)

The suggestion of mine above to run your ground all the way to your b a t t e r y is a direct quote from PPI, and is proven to work in helping to eliminate ground loop or whining noises emmiting from your stereo system...this is a time proven method suggested from most of the amp manufactureres.

I re routed the power wire to the amp so it is not near the signal wires. There is still the sound. Could it be coming in through the radio power line? Also, I have the signal wires, both to and from the amp, bundled together and running the center of my truck. Could there be a problem with doing that? I tried running te ground to the batt, no difference. thanks for the help.

You turn the gain down on your amp, if it is just a small noise that you can't hear when the stereo is a little louder this should fix it. You can also buy higher quality spark plugs and wires to help eliminate noise.
