Fuel system part on frame?

There is a part on the inside of the frame of my truck and I have no clue what it's for. If I had dual tanks I would say thats what it would be for but I only have a single tank. The part is a round black thing with the fuelk lines coming and going.

This part is going to be in the way of the cross member when I do a C6 to ZF swap. The cross member needs to be moved towards the rear of the truck almost 3 inches.

It is either the fuel filter or the high-pressure pump. If it has wires going into it, it is the pump. If it has a flow direction arrow, and or no wires, it's the pump.

I think you mean w/o wires its the fuel filter! It has to be one or the other.

It's neither of the two. I have changed the fule pump and the filter is closer to the motor. The part I am refering to is closer to the fuel tank between the fuel pump and the fuel tank.

The part is a black if that helps.

This a centurion bronco which I am told was based on the F150 frame and drive train.

I'm guessing it may be a canister filter. I had one on a Ranger several years back. There was a filter before the pump and one after it.

What year is your truck? Before 1990, there were two fuel filters along the frame rail in different locations.

Don't know much about that but, I built a bronco once and didn't use it. The thing would run out of gas going into third gear.

I think it is just a resevoir to keep the high pressure frame pump (if equipped) from running dry.

I've heard there's a filter in it that can get plugged. The mechanic said he just took those out if they ever got clogged. Be sure to have a new o-ring in hand when you take the thing apart, because you will need one when you put it back together.

Exactly--there are TWO filters. Change/check them both, and do use a new O-ring.
