Help! C6 has no reverse

Help! C6 has no reverse

I have a 74 F600 with a 460 and C6 trans in it. The transmission will not go into reverse. it acts like its in neutral. When I shift into 1, 2, or Drive it engages just fine. I've checked the fluid level with the trans hot and the truck idling, and the fluid level is fine. I've also checked the shifter adjustment and it is also correct. Is there anything else I can check, or is my transmission shot? Thanks.

Could be your reverse clutch that went bad.

Question

I have a Ford Van and it is doing the same thing yours is doing. What have you done to fix it and did it work?

I also suspect the reverse clutch... I was hoping it would be something stupid like the fluid strainer.. The strange thing is, it happened all of a sudden.. Well.. actually it always had a 1-2 second pause before reverse would catch.. but once it caught it never slipped or anything.. any other suggestions?
