new lift question

I have an 1987 Ranger XLT. I just did the 3" body lift today. I was wondering how do I move the bumpers up so they line up again. They are still in the original location and it looks funny. How do I fix this? Also I don't use my AC anymore and the lift said I needed to modify the fan shroud. I got it back on but it's not centered perfectly. Will this cause my truck to over heat?
Thanx
Alex

To move the bumpers up I would probably just pull the bumper off and fab up some mounting plates that would fit in at the stock mounting holes and would raise the bumpers to the desired position. About the fan shroud, how far off from centered perfectly is it?

Also, I'm not sure how it would look on your truck, but I would try just leaving the rear bumper off. A lot of trucks look pretty good like that with just a universal trailer hitch reciever in case you want to tow any toys around.

It is off by 1.5" or maybe 2" at most. Is that going to make a big difference in cooling? I want to keep the rear bumber if possible. So I should try and make some sort of brackets huh, do they sell any for that year ranger that I can just install?

A good body lift kit should have come with brackets to re-locate the front/rear bumper, I know mine did, as for the fan, I swapped electrics into mine before I did the lift, so I didn't even worry about raising the radiator or fan shroud (well, the shroud isn't there anymore anyway), it made things a lot easier, plus it's a great way to get an extra 2-3 MPG...

If you find a company that makes the relocation brackets for the bumper please let me know. So in your opinon my shroud being a little off won't cause my truck to over heat or anything right?

You can call Performance Accessories (look for them on the web) and ask if they will sell just the bumper brackets for your year truck, or, any semi-competent machine shop should be able to make them too... As for the fan, as long as it's not rubbing anything, the best test will be to actually run the truck, and watch it carefully for overheating. There's no sure-fire way to know if any modification to the cooling system will make the vehicle overheat or not, it's just kind of a "seat of the pants" type thing (after I did the electric fans on my truck, I idled it for 6 hours on the driveway to make sure the system worked, then took it off road with a buddy whose sole job was to watch the temperature gauge and thrashed it around a bit. It's been over a year now, and the thing hasn't let me down once)

No one makes any parts for my truck so I just automatically go to making my own parts. I'm not sure how it's set up but I can't imagine the brackets being more than just two steel plates with a few holes drilled in it. But if they make the parts then go for it. Sorry I can't help you more than that.

Maticuno, your truck is nearly identical to mine, and I have no problem finding parts whatsoever... Looking in the wrong spot, maybe?
