I recently picked up a 1985 E150 Econoline with Viking Conversion. Body is very straight, no rust, engine is fairly strong (with the rebuilt carb on it, still working on getting the choke to work right). Even the C6 seems to work as correctly. Then again, it has just 125K miles on it.
The bad part is that the previous owner removed the middle captains chairs, probably now at Bubba and Bufords dining table in podunk no where. Anyhow, I can't find any suitable used replacements locally, mostly completely different styles and/or colors. I have contacted both Bradd and Hall, and Flexsteel directly, they seem of little help in matching the design that won't cost big bills (yes, 2 seats would cost more than what I paid for the entire van).
Does anyone know if there are wrecking yards or companies that deal mostly in conversion vans? I would go so far as to swap out all the seats for one complete set (4 captains chairs and the bed/sofa in the back), just so it would all match. I really want to get this going for the travel season.
Also, are there any conversion van forums on the net? Maybe they have some resources I have yet to uncover!
Tough one.
I know they still have some van places around, but everything is top dollar. Vanin.com is geared more to conversion vans, and interior parts.
You might end up putting a bench seat back there. Good luck
How about posting a pic of the seats you are trying to match in your gallery. Some yards I've seen have old conversion vans , most scrapped for powertrain failure.
