I just bought a 1993 ford E150 universal conversion van and would like to be able to take out the seats temporarily to load with cargo. I looked at my ford manual and thought it had an easy release on the back captain chairs but they are totally different than ford's and where it looked like there was a pin to release so the pedestal will slide off I can't get the chair to budge when I pull, pry, even hammer, the pin. The bolts underneath the van have no head and spin when I try to take these out. Universal is out of business, Ford says they don't know how to take the seats out since they didn't do them, and I'm going nuts with what should be an easy thing to do. Has anyone had this problem? The bench seat would slide right out no problem except you have to take out the captain chair pedestals to get it out the side door. thanks
if the pedestal bolts are loose enuf to spin, you may be able to get a pair of vice-grips onto the heads under the van, which ought to allow you to remove the nuts from inside... otherwise just drill them out and replace with new bolts and big wing nuts from the hardware store... good luck. btw: is your rear door not open-able to get the bench out?
