closed Knuckle vs. open knuckle

Lightbulb closed Knuckle vs. open knuckle

I have closed knuckle front end on my 74 f-250 which is better for offroading open or closed?are they both dana44's do they make any kind of disc brake conversion for the drum brake style
Just kind of wondering your opinion thanks.

Both are good axles. Most seem to prefer open knuckles for maitainability. As long as the rubber boot stays intact,the closed knuckles have an advantage of superior lubrication and protection from dirt and water. Lots of info in the transmission / drivetrain forum for you to use the search feature.
