Where To Put Tow Strap

I have a 98 XLT and need to pull out some equipment. Where is the strongest spot on the Expo to put a tow strap hook? Anybody hook up a tow strap to their truck before?

I would say the hitch or tow hooks as well. The tow hooks are meant for it, and the trailer hitch is meant for pulling trailers.

The strongest point is definitely the hitch.

If you use the front tow hooks, make sure you pull straight on. I saw an expy with a twisted frame from pulling the front hook at an angle. Thought about tying the two frame members together to get more strength out of the front hooks. Anyone have an opinion?

Does anyone know how much the max weight is on the front hooks? Does Ford list this anywhere?

Trailer hitch! Last winter I pulled out a 5 ton wrecker which was stuck to it's frame in mud. Due to the bolt arrangement it may only have a 500 lb tongue load, but it will pull behind it 10K lbs befofe straining the drive train. I'd guess the hitch and frame could pull 25K lbs in a straight line if the truck could only do it.

these guys are right. Hitch or tow hooks.

One tip..... a "******" strap is worth its weight in gold when pulling a heavy load out of a difficult spot.
