Remember in the 60's and 70's when we'd try to get as much rubber as possible around the smallest rim possible? Of course this had purpose, T-R-A-C-T-I-O-N without too much tire spin...Today, the kids do it the other way around...
Check out 24" rims on a caprice.. What purpose does this serve besides "LOOK AT ME, I'M AN IDIOT!"
im REALLY fed up with the bling bling/import/hip hop attitude thats going on in this country. i cant wait til ROCK ( real music ) gets the spotlight again

me either!
i think metallica is startin to come back...but then again, they never left
what the deal with that car! i dunno if yall read what he put into the car but it was all cosmetic. with all the money he put into it but if my math is right then its about $24,900. with that much money id put most of it into performance cause to me thats what really makes a car is performance and some exterior to accent it. ive noticed that alot of kids at my school MAKE their cars LOOK fast but there really not. then they get beat by a a big truck like mine and they start makin up tons of excuses how they misshifted and what not. u know, the usual bs excuses
I think the larger rim / shorter tire trend started in racing where they used this idea to reduce side flex of the the tire wall for better cornering. Of course the kids got a hold of it and pushed it well beyond useable limits.
The problem with changing wheel and tire size is it changes the roll couple of the car. Something the engineers have maximized for the lengthen of upper and lower control arms.
It does have an affect on how the car responds in a corner. NOT always good, most feel it is better because of the increased stiffness of the sidewall, sometimes a false sense of grip
