Maybe Ford should do a little research like read this forum <!instead of sitting back and reading the surveys from the old foagies who are happy with the current lightning.>

Maybe its just me...but i dont have an extra 40k lying around, or under my mattress to blow on a stang or SRT-10...thats why i drive a '90.......one can dream cant he????
The only way you can get an L for $20,000 is maybe with a 99-00 with about 80,000 miles on it. The SRT-10 is brand new, soon they will stop marking them up and sale them for sticker price $45,000. They come with 22-inch wheels....22s are a lot of $$$ and so are the tires that come on them. Pluse the Viper V-10 and six-speed. I don't see how you need to be old and retired for afford it....or win the lottery. Hell a Mustang Cobra Convertable cost damn close to $40,000 and you see them all over the place....maybe there are jjust more retired folk and lottery winners then I thought.
I dont know where ur seeing all these Cobras....but i havent seen not one new one around here...although 2 of my uncles have brand new Hummer 2's....if your gonna do it up get a GT40 JMO
Put my money where my mouth is as far as build a ranger? It was just a point man...if I do anything I'll build that all aluminum 440ci 351w based on the new Dart block and drop it in my '94 Lightning. Who'll want some then? Hehe.
It basically boils down to this, (KC I think you'll agree) Dodge has beaten Ford. Right now, Dodge sells the fastest and most powerful trucks, period. True the SRT-10 costs more, but you get a larger cab, nicer wheels, a 6 SPEED!, a V-10, and probably better mileage to boot. Even if ford does build a better lightning, it'll be in that even uglier new body. Congrats to Dodge, we'll kindly accept defeat until our new weapons arrive from Ford.
Oh, believe me... I do agree.. but just barely. ANd they lost on the utility end, giving up bed capacity and towing capacity. So, it may be a "win" in one aspect, but it's definitely a "lose" in the others. And I have yet to see a head-to-head comparo between the two (methinks Dodge is trying to prevent that), that compares the handling, and in my humble opinion, I think the L will run circles around the SRT10.
peopel need to start talking to ford and telling them what they want. every time i get a survey from them in the comments section i write a letter and tell them what i want. the best way for the public to see any results from ford is to write them and voice you opinon. you might think it wont work i am only one voice. but what if there are thousands of other people out there thinking what you are and writing in and telling them. itsa just time for the public to speak out and tell ford what we want.
Yanno, Ford *does* listen--look at the new Mustang, the GT-40, and the Lighting itself! And now they are going back and reworking the new Cobra, because of our feedback.
And Ford does troll these boards, looking for feedback (not to mention the fools who post their mods blatantly, and then file for warranty repair when they broke 'em in the first place).
So, yeah, they do listen, but it doesn't hurt to give 'em more feedback.
I'm sure Ford reads this forum. And we're not debating that the SRT-10 is faster...I was just saying I don't think it's much faster for the extra money and hp it has over the L. Just make sure we remain adults and have a civil conversation about this please.

The Dakota RT can outhandle both of them, for a hell of a lot less.
Actually they say the SRT-10 handles pretty damn good.
