jpsartre12, since I didn't go to public school I don't know all the topics they expose students to. However, I agree with you that there are probably other subjects that should be excluded as well. I think we need to stick to the basics and let the parents teach the cultural, moral, and religious topics at home. It's always been their job to make upstanding adults out of their children. It's the schools responsibility to make sure they can get a job when they graduate.
I am completely for this latter movement. It is not appropriate for schools to suggest that students pray at a specific time. It is none of their business how people go about living their faith (or lack thereof).

Right on Whistler! Prayer is a personal thing to be practiced as an individual sees fit or as his or her religion dictates. There are many opportunities during a school day when a student may pray as they wish. No specific time is necessary nor would it accomdate each individual religious doctrine.
