Can the priority on an order be lowered after it has been sent in? I ordered a vehicle and when I went in to get my current status I was told that my priority was a 20 (that is good it was a 40 she said) I want to get my ducks in a row to talk to her about some of these issues since some of you guys are ordering and receiving your trucks in about 30 days and it took me 48 days to even get built. I guess the dealer wants to make more money off of trucks they can try and sell for MSRP instead of a truck already sold when ordered.
Could someone please explain what this order priority number is about and what I should know before going back to the dealer to check on the status.
I ordered an '04 150-FX on 12-08-03.
All orders submitted have to be given a priority number- 11 is the highest priority, 99 is the lowest. At our dealership, all sold retail orders get an 11 priority; lower numbers are used for fleet sales and stock units. Some fleets want their deliveries spread out over the year, and we don't always get all the trucks we order for inventory, so we give some lower priority. Why any dealer would give you a 20 or 40 priority is beyond me. Maybe they sold the truck too cheap, and hope you'll go away if it takes too long for the truck to arrive?
I bought it on the xplan so they aren't taking a loss but who knows. It was built on 18 Nov and I haven't received it yet. I was put on a boat 11 Dec so it should be Alaska by now. I will keep my fingers crossed that I get it tomorrow.
