Its not just a fuel matter as you say. Its a movement issue. Getting fuel AND AIR into the motor, and out of it as fast as possible. Thats how you get your power. A set of headers could help you out a bit, and I would say he is on the threshold of maxing out the tiny stock injectors. Your looking at what 160 HP stock? With the cam, minor headwork, and an exhaust system, you could easily gan that 30-40 HP needed to max out the stock injectors. Even if you only get 20 and only 10 for the exhaust and 10 for headwork, which in reality, i would say the headwork and cam should both give you a good 20-30 each. The exhuast, when complimenting the other mods should give you a good 15-20, maybe even 25 if you throw in a header.

Machman, I think you figured out your problem yourself. Go with some 9.5 to one pistons and you are there!

Had similar problem you're describing in my old 94. It had dual tanks an I mostly used the front one. It just lacked power above ~1500 rpms. One day I notices that when I switched to the rear tank it INSTANTLY had more power, back to front tank and a second later the power dropped....I did this floored in 3rd gear going up a hill and when switching to rear tank it really took off. I'm thinking it was the fuel pump in the front tank "if it has one" or if both tanks run off the same pump then it was something to do with the valve. I never did fix it and sold it a short time later. Just a thought.

I had the same expirence as firehawk618. I checked the fuel pressure and found the rear tank had much higher pressure ( but with in spec) than the front (much lower than spec).

Machman, did you go for the higher compression pistons?

Not yet. I am planning on that as a summer project. I still have some other tests I want to perform. Compression with the new cam, leakdown, running fuel pressure and blow-by check. I also procured a spare distributer, ignition module and pcm from a similar optioned truck. I just have to jump in and do it. Who was the manufacturer for replacement pistons anyway? Maybe something in the 9.5 range.
