aod tranny problems

I have a '92 f150 with a 300. For about a year the tranny has had trouble shifting from first to second. The u joints are good, and i have taken it to a tranny shop, but they couldnt find anything wrong with it. It slams from first to second only, so i ususally just let off the gas and let it ease in. I would like to fix it, but i can't diagnose the problem. I have taken my cat off, and was told by an untrustworthy source that this could be the culpret. Anyone else have the same problem??

Uh oh. My AOD used to do that same thing. but not anymore. Now most of the time it just slips and hammers into 1st.
I just hope it holds out until spring then I will C6 the SOB.
